Station 6: “Lead Us From War to Peace”
by Mikako Fujiwara
While creating this piece, I was reflecting on my grandfather's detailed war story. He was a soldier and had deep grief about his experience on the war field until he died.
I was thinking all we could do for victims of those tragic events is just prayer. However, at the same time, I was imagining that the Universe, that God, may be the only thing that could heal the pain of the victim silently.
The Southern Cross is the constellation you can see in Southern Hemisphere. I once read an article that many soldiers watched it in the night from the battle fields with hopes of going back to their homelands, but many of them never made it.
The pink motif on my work is the Southern Cross; it relates to the “Cross,” watching over the soldiers, as if absorbing their pains and desperate hopes.
