Recovery Projects & Work Trips
In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.
Matthew 5:16
With very few exceptions, every summer RHCP teams up with other congregations to organize a work trip, usually around recovery projects in the wake of natural disasters. Our recent trips include recovery projects in North Carolina, Michigan, and Texas. Our formal sponsor for these trips is the international organization World Renew.
In the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy (in 2012), RCHP and its affiliate partner Churches Improving Communities, recognized the need for long-term recovery projects that lingered beyond the scope of the immediate disaster relief services. For several years, CIC operated a program called “Churches Accomplishing Long-Term Recovery” (CALTR), which assisted families in need of home construction and renovation projects along the Jersey Shore. It also organized many 1-day or week-long service trips for volunteers and groups to assist in these vital restoration projects.
