Faith Statement on Sanctuary for Immigrants
The Reformed Church of Highland Park reaffirms its commitment to providing physical sanctuary to brothers and sisters at risk of being separated from their families and communities as a result of our nation’s current immigration policies. Our aim is to highlight, not hide the stories of those making the difficult decision to seek refuge within church walls. Committed to one another and rooted in our faith, we welcome interfaith and ecumenical partners in vetting potential recipients of sanctuary and assessing capacity.
This congregation will continue to uphold faith in times of fear and repression, maintaining the community of justice and compassion that our members have built. Whenever there is a question about who is the One who truly rules the world, we are called to stand up and claim again the promise that God is One, there is no other.
